The Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) at St. Joseph the Worker is founded on the belief that:
“Catechesis is the whole process by which a Christian community informs, forms, and ever transforms itself in lived Christian faith.” (Thomas Groome)

We also honour the parents as the primary educators of their children in the faith. (“Family catechesis precedes…accompanies and enriches all forms of catechesis.” – General Directory for Catechists).

As a support to our parish families, we provide the following, beginning each September running through to June:

  • Grades K through 4  on Saturday mornings at 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the Parish School

  • Grades  5, 6 & 7  on Monday evenings at 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Parish School

Our program also includes Preparation for receiving the Sacraments of :

  • First Reconciliation/Eucharist for baptized and catechized children aged 7-12 years old and baptized and catechized teens, 13 – 17 years old.
  • Confirmation for baptized and catechized youth 12-17 years old. The catechetical teams, working with our Pastor, coordinators and parents, engage the children in their faith formation through the use of prayer, ritual, storytelling, scripture study, crafts, art and music.
