Christian Meditation Prayer Group

Christian Meditation is a prayer of silence and stillness which takes us beyond words, thoughts and images to experience the presence of Christ within us. We sit down and remain still as we repeat interiorly, faithfully and continuously, the Aramaic (the language Jesus spoke) prayer Ma-ra-na-tha (Come Lord) for 20 to 30 minutes every morning and every evening. The Benedictine Monk John Main brought this early Christian prayer to Canada from England at the invitation of the Archbishop of Montreal in 1976. Sister Edna Dohm of St. Patrick’s Parish brought it to Vancouver following a 6 month sojourn at the Montreal Benedictine Priory in 1983. To encourage our pilgrimage on the twice daily practice, our group meets meets in the Parish boardroom.
