The Refugee Committee is sponsored by the Parish through the Archdiocese. We currently have applications in progress for two families who are relatives to two families in our parish. These two parish families will be responsible for the cost of settling the incoming refugees. Our Parish and the Archdiocese will be fully responsible if the host families fail to take care of their relatives, and therefore, we undertake a limited number of applicants at any one time. We will assist the host families as much as possible. The Committee is waiting for the Federal Government to identify these people as refugees and grant them entry to Canada. One family is from Eritrea, coming from Khartoum, Sudan. The other is from Afghanistan, coming from Pakistan.
