Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • Sushi rice short grain rice, rice vinegar, sugar, salt
  • Nori seaweed
  • Avocado
  • Cucumber
  • Imitation crab meat
  • Sashimi tuna
  • Mayonaise
  • Soy sauce
  • Wasabi paste
  • Sesame seeds
  • Tobiko flying fish roe

Sushi Rice

  • 3 cups Japanese short grainrice
  • 3 cups water

Vinegar dressing for the sushi rice

  • 6 tbsp vinegar
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions
 

Sushi Rice

  • Cook rice and let it stand for 10-15 min after it is finishedcooking.

Vinegar dressing for the sushi rice

  • Mix the vinegar dressing until the sugar and salt have completely dissolved in the vinegar. Add half the mixture to the cooked rice and fold it in using a spatula. Add the remaining vinegar dressing and continue folding for 5 min. Fan rice while folding to speed up the cooling down process. Rice is ready to be used when at room temperature or just slightly warm.

California Roll

  • 3 cups sushi rice
    1/2 lb Imitation crab meat (preferably sticks)
    1 large Avocado, ripe but still firm
1/2 medium cucumber, peeled and sliced into long julienne strips
10 sheets Nori (seaweed) cut into half sheets
1/4 c Toasted sesame seeds (optional)
    1/8 c Flying fish roe (optional)
    Mayonnaise
    Shoyu and wasabi for dipping (optional)
    To roll the sushi you will need a bamboo sushi mat covered with plastic wrap.
    – place nori on sushi mat and completely cover the nori with rice (aprox 1 cup of rice)
    – sprinkle a little sesame seeds and fish roe across the middle of the rice
    – flip the nori over for the rice is now underneath the nori
    – add the avocado, crab, cucumber, and mayonnaise across on top of the nori (across the middle)
    – as you roll up the nori using the mat, the rice will end up on the outside
    – cut the the California roll into 8 equal pieces

Temaki Sushi (hand rolled sushi, no mat necessary)

  • Sushi rice
    Nori sheets cut in half
    Avocado, cucumber
    Any sashimi grade fish such as tuna, salmon, shrimp etc
    Imitation or real crab
    Shoyu and wasabi for dipping (optional)
    Mayonnaise
    – using a half sheet of nori put enough rice to cover about half the sheet
    – add your filling, roll up the sushi and eat

Inari Sushi

  • – fill pre seasoned inari sushi bags and serve
